D.C. Firefighters Win $45M Round with City

Firefighters will receive overtime pay retroactive to 2001.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) – A longstanding issue between the city and first responders regarding overtime for firefighters and emergency services personnel has ended.

Saturday, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser signed an agreement with the Firefighters Union.

Under the agreement the city's 3,000 union firefighters will receive overtime for time worked over 42 hours a week.

The agreement is retroactive back to September 2001 and will cost the District close to $45 Million.
