Two firefighters had to retreat to a rooftop when conditions changed in the South Minneapolis structure.

Minneapolis firefighters had to bail out of a second floor window as conditions suddenly changed on them Friday afternoon.

Firefighters rescued three people from the large three-story, multi-family home on 5th Avenue South and Franklin Avenue.

As crews battled flames on the second and third floors, a flashover occurred, forcing firefighter to retreat to a roof, according to WCCO.

“It’s a situational-awareness deal, and we always work on evacuating and having ways out of a building and out of a situation that you cannot handle,” District Chief Todd White told the television station.

Crews moved to a defensive attack to bring the fire under control.

No injuries were reported.
