An electrical issue in the basement sparked the fire.

A Montgomery County firefighter escaped serious injury in a fall through a floor at a house fire Saturday night.

He fell into the basement, but was able to get out on his own.

The fire in the unoccupied house may have been burning for some time before it was discovered by neighbors, according to Pete Piriniger, Montgomery Count Fire/Rescue spokesperson.

An electrical issue in the basement sparked the fire that quickly spread through the house, causing significant damage.
