Just 20 minutes after crews found a dwelling fully involved, a second fire was reported a block away.

Detroit firefighters battled a blaze that damaged several dwellings early on March 26.

Engines 33, 27, 34, Ladder 22, Squad 4 and Battalion 7 were dispatched to the 2900 block of Woodmere at 12:18 a.m.

Crews found a two-story dwelling fully involved and two additional engines were requested to the scene. Engines 42 and 29 also responded, along with Detroit Medic 9.

Firefighters used an aerial ladder and several handlines to knock down the fire.

Just a block away, a box alarm was sounded for a dwelling fire at Woodmere and Inglis.

Engines 42, 29, 39, Ladder 8, Squad 2 and Battalion 5 were dispatched.

Engine 42 found heavy smoke from a vacant and used an interior attack.

That fire was quickly brought under control.
