Four Children Among Six Killed in NY Fire

A porch roof collapsed as Syracuse firefighters attempted to enter the home.

An early morning house fire in Syracuse has left six dead. 

A neighbor called 9-1-1 just before 4 a.m. after they heard an explosion from the two-story home on Martin Street.

As firefighters tried to enter the home through the front door, the porch roof collapsed forcing firefighters to retreat, according to CNYCentral.com

Firefighters found two bodies on the first floor and four on the second floor.

Local school district officials said four children were killed in the blaze.

One woman was able to escape the fire.

Firefighters brought the fire under control in 30 minutes.
