Maine Fire Chief Arrested on Arson Charge

Old Orchard Beach Chief Ricky Plummer was charged with arson in connection with a marsh fire.

A Maine fire chief has been arrested and charged with arson in connection with a marsh fire that took more than 100 firefighters to extinguish.

According to local television station WCSH6, Old Orchard Beach Chief Ricky Plummer was arrested on Saturday morning for a fire that happened on April 15 and burned 42 acres at the Jones Creek Marsh.

The television station reported a dozen investigators from the state fire marshal's office and forest service seized computers from the fire station and in the chief's town-owned car as well as his cell phone during the investigation.

He's being held on $10,000 bail awaiting his first court appearance.
