TX Firefighter Loses Home to Blaze

A Ben Bolt firefighter lost his home to fire Tuesday.

A group of firefighters driving to a function at a school when they were dispatched to the house fire at 8:30 a.m.

Flames engulfed the Freeman Street home by the time firefighters arrived, The Alice Echo reported.

Firefighter Matthew Henderson, his wife and toddler escaped the home without injuries. 

Henderson has been volunteering with the Ben Bolt Volunteer Fire Department for four years.

"This person has donated his time helping others and preparing to protect his community, now it's the communities turn to help him,” Ben Bolt Fire Chief Patrick Thomas. told the newspaper “We appreciate everything he has done for our department and we are not going to leave hime alone in his time of need.”

The home and the families belongings were destroyed by the blaze.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help the Henderson family recover from the fire.
