A 13-year-old middle school boy was struck and killed by a fire department vehicle in Greece on Sunday afternoon.

A 13-year-old middle school boy was struck and killed by a fire department vehicle in Greece on Sunday afternoon.

According to a report published by the local paper, Democrat and Chronicle newspaper, the victim was a Dominic Cook, of Hilton, a student at Merton Williams Middle School died after being hit by the vehicle.

The newspaper reported the Greece police said the boy was hit by a Lake Shore Fire Department vehicle after he entered Flynn Road shortly after noon on Sunday. The kind of vehicle was not reported.

Police reports said the victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The road was closed for several hours as the Greece police and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office investigated the scene.

The newspaper reported the principal of the victim’s school, Tracie Czebatol said; “Dominic was a wonderful student with a heart of gold. He always had a smile and ‘good morning’ for everyone and brought a smile to everyone’s face wherever he went.”

The Democrat and Chronicle said calls to the Lake Shore Fire Department were not immediately returned and the Greece police declined to release other details involved with the ongoing investigation.
