A teen male is in critical condition after he crashed his Toyota Prius into a building ending up in the front office space and conference room.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department’s Facebook page, there were nine people in the Bodycote Thermal Processing building on the city’s northwest side when the crash happened. All the people inside at the time of the 7:20 p.m. crash on Monday evening were uninjured, according to the fire department.

A report by television station, Fox59, the young man was driving on Martin Luther King Jr. Street when he allegedly went through a traffic light too fast and crashed into the building. Officers told the station the vehicle traveled about 20 feet into the building, ending up on its side.

The driver was apparently conscious enough to try to get himself out the vehicle, but had to be extricated by rescue workers, the station reported. He was transported to a local hospital where he was reported in critical condition.

The Indianapolis Fire Department responded with a collapse rescue team, but no shoring was required and the building was deemed structurally sound.

Officials told the television station the cause of the wreck is under investigation and there were no obvious signs of drugs or alcohol factoring into the crash at the scene.
