FL House Fire Causes $1M in Damage

Feb. 22, 2017
Four people escaped the Naples house fire and firefighters stopped the blaze before it destroyed the home.

A house fire at a home in Naples on Tuesday evening caused about $1 million in damage, according to fire officials.

The fire destroyed the garage and a second-floor room at the back of the home on North Lake Drive, just east of Gulf Shore Boulevard North.

The Naples Fire Department received the call at 6:04 p.m. Four people were in the house when the fire broke out but no one was hurt, according to Battalion Chief Gerald Pecar.

The fire did not spread to the front of the home or to neighboring houses. Pecar said it took about an hour to put out the fire.

Naples police and fire, Greater Naples and North Collier fire rescue districts and Collier County EMS responded to the scene.

"It was a big response, but it was a big fire," Pecar said. "We would have liked to save more of the house but are glad the fire didn't spread any farther."

The local and state fire marshals will begin investigating the cause of the fire on Wednesday.
