The station reported that a man and a woman were seen running back and forth on a second walkway unable to escape because the fire had already engulfed the stairs. The couple jumped and the woman broke both arms while the man suffered neck and back injuries.

West Jordan Fire Department Battalion Chief Bryan Crump told the television station he believes the building is uninhabitable with the roof and ceilings collapsed in many of the units. Six of the eight units in the building were heavily damaged by fire and the two remaining were damaged by smoke.

The fire is under investigation, but investigators were not able to enter the building for safety reasons.

Fox 13 reported crews were working on stabilizing the building while the American Red Cross was assisting those displaced by the fire.
