A veteran Philadelphia firefighter died a little over a week after falling ill while at a fire station.

Lt. Kenneth Greene Sr., 60, was transported to a hospital on Sept. 3 while he was on duty at Station 37, according to a release from the department.

Green died Thursday at Einstein Hospital, but no other details were available. The U.S. Fire Administration announced his passing as a line-of-duty-death on Monday.

The U.S. Army veteran served with the department for 23 years.

Greene and his crew from Ladder 14 received a citation for helping rescue two people from a house fire in 2007.
