Toddler Fatally Injured on Visit to AZ Station

The child was fatally injured by apparatus bay doors while visiting a Scottsdale fire station Saturday.

A toddler was fatally injured while visiting a Scottsdale fire station over the weekend, city officials confirmed Tuesday.

AZCentral.com reports that the child, who was just under two years old, was visiting a station on Saturday where a relative works as a full-time firefighter and was on duty.

The boy was given immediate medical attention at the station and then transferred to the trauma ward at Phoenix Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The city of Scottsdale has launched an investigation into the matter, according to an official release.

"The Scottsdale Fire Department family is deeply saddened by this accident," the statement read.s "We are doing all we can to support and care for the firefighters and family members at the station when the accident occurred, and we ask the community's thoughts and prayers for this child and his family."
