A 1,000-acre wildfire hit already devastated Bastrop County, forcing evacuations Tuesday night, according to The American-Statesman.
Officials said that the latest fire is different from the Bastrop Complex fire from last month and that the presence of firefighting aircraft has helped crews make swift progress.
A DC-10, two C-130s and others, helped attack the flames.
The fire -- which started around 2:30 p.m. -- was 25 percent contained by 8:30 p.m.
"The air resources did a great job," Texas Forest Service spokesman John Nichols told the newspaper. "They were from Austin, and they weren't committed to anything else."
No homes were lost and 50 houses were evacuated, Nichols said.
September's wildfires burned 34,000 acres, destroyed about 1,600 homes and killed two people.
