PA Firefighter Suffers Eye Injury Battling 2-Alarm Fire

The blaze sent two Forest Hills firefighters to the hospital Monday night after flames started in the back of one house and spread to two other residences.

Three homes in Forest Hills were damaged by fire that spread from one house late Monday night.

The fire in the 100 block of Elmore Road was reported shortly before 11:30 p.m. Monday, according to Allegheny County 9-1-1.

The fire started in the back of one house and spread to two others on either side, WPXI-TV reported.

The family that was in the house where the fire started got out unhurt, the station reported.

The fire got into the attic of one of the other houses and caused severe damage, the station reported. The other house was not as badly damaged.

A firefighter suffered an eye injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to WPXI. Another firefighter also was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the department said on its Facebook page.

Firefighters cleared the scene by 4 a.m., a county dispatcher said. There was no information on a cause.

The Red Cross was helping the residents.
