A Brooksville Walmart was evacuated Friday after a fire broke out involving a tractor-trailer, and flames spread to two other semis before Hernando County firefighters arrived.

BROOKSVILLE, FL—Authorities evacuated a Walmart Supercenter early Friday after semitrailers parked behind the store caught fire, deputies said.

A sheriff’s deputy who was stationed in the parking lot of the store at 13300 Cortez heard an explosion about 5 a.m. and found a semitrailer truck parked behind the building was on fire, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office. The truck was parked between two other semitrailer trucks and the deputy helped an occupant in one of the other trucks get out safely.

Other deputies arrived and helped evacuate the store. As Hernando County Fire Rescue crews arrived, the fire spread to the other two trucks.

The store remained closed Friday morning as crews worked to put out the fire. Authorities will determine if there is any damage to the building and whether the store can reopen today, deputies said.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the explosion was under investigation.
