CA Firefighter Falls, Injures Leg in Vacant House Blaze

Bakersfield and Kern County crews put out the fire at an abandoned house on the city's northeast side that has had past troubles with squatters.

A California firefighter suffered a leg injury following a fall while battling a vacant house blaze Monday.

The fire broke out just before 8 p.m. in northeast Bakersfield, KGET-TV reports. County and city crews responded to the blaze at the home, which has had past issues with squatters.

Bakersfield Battalion Chief Mike Lencioni  told KGET that a firefighter was taken to the hospital with either a broken ankle or leg following a fall at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
