New York and Connecticut firefighters from a half-dozen departments responded to a blaze at a Putnam Lake home, and crews needed to use tankers because of a lack of hydrants.

Firefighters from a half-dozen departments battled a large blaze that destroyed a house in New York early Thursday.

The fire broke out at a home in Putnam Lake, and the family inside was able to safely escape the burning structure, the Rockland/Westchester Journal News reports. Because no hydrants were in the area, crews needed to use tankers to shuttle water to the blaze.

Along with the Putnam Lake department, firefighters from Brewster, Croton Falls, Patterson, as well as Connecticut crews from New Fairfield and Danbury, responded to the call, the Journal News added. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
