Detroit Firefighters Control Dwelling Fire

On Sept. 10 at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Detroit Fire Department responded to a reported dwelling fire.

While companies were en route, the hazmat unit advised they could see the fire from their quarters.

Upon arrival of Engine Co. 23, a fire at a two-story commercial building was reported. Engine 23 requested an additional two engines, a truck and a squad above the box alarm assignment on arrival. A full second alarm was also requested.

The fire was under control at approximately 4:45 p.m. The building suffered a total roof collapse. Relief companies were ordered to scene for the first alarm to remain on scene. Companies remain for several hours after the fire was under control working hotspots.

The Detroit Fire Department was on scene working with six engines, a truck, two platforms, two Tactical Manpower Squads, two battalion chiefs, a senior chief and a deputy chief.
