The City of Connellsville, Pennsylvania. Fire Department and the Connellsville Township Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a commercial/residential fire Sept. 16 at 2 a.m.

Fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke from all sides and heavy fire in the corner storefront. Firefighters remained at the scene until approximately 11:30 a.m., completing the daunting suppression and overhaul of the century old structure.

A second alarm was struck bringing a second aerial, engine and RIT team. A majority of the fire was in the basement of the structure and was hard to get to due to the collapse of the first floor from the fire load.

There were no reported injuries at the incident and investigators are still investigating the cause. Other responding agencies included New Haven Hose Company, DL&V Volunteer Fire Department, Scottsdale Volunteer Fire Department, Uniontown Fire Department and Fayette Emergency Medical Services.
