When they arrived firefighters found an SUV with fire and smoke coming from both the engine and passenger compartment.

At 8:06 am on September 21, firefighters from Union Colony Fire Rescue were called to a vehicle fire at 13th Av & 8th St in Greeley, CO. When they arrived firefighters found an SUV with fire and smoke coming from both the engine and passenger compartment. They immediately engaged in an attack on the fire with a fire extinguisher which was very quickly followed by a firefighting hose line. All fire was extinguished within a couple of minutes of their arrival.

Fortunately, no injuries to citizens or firefighters were occurred as a result of the fire. Union Colony Fire Rescue reminds citizens that vehicle fires can be extremely dangerous because these types of fires produce highly toxic gases. People should get away from the vehicle and avoid breathing the smoke This year alone, Union Colony firefighters have responded to 39 vehicle fire incidents.

The cause of this fire was determined to be a mechanical failure. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $1,000.
