Quick Knock on Salisbury, Maryland House Fire
On Monday, September 18 2006, Wicomico Central alerted Stations 16, 2, 1 (Salisbury) and 74 (Delmar) to a house fire on Bailey Lane. Assistant Chief 1, Bryan Records, arrived to find fire showing from the rear of the one story structure.
The crew of Engine 161 arrived and stretched one of their 1-3/4" bumper lines through the front door for the attack. Truck 16 arrived and began the primary search while Engine 741 knocked down exterior fire in the rear. Rescue 16 performed ventilation duties, opening up the roof, which was composed of tongue-and-groove boards, two to three layers of shingles, and a final layer of tin.
The fire was knocked down in approximately 15 minutes and is believed to be caused by food on the stove. The Maryland State Fire Marshall's Office is investigating.
