Saugus, Mass. - One person was killed after a tractor-trailer loaded with approximately 11,000 gallons of gasoline rolled over into the guardrail on Rte. 1 Northbound in Saugus Mass, spilling and igniting it's load. Several other cars were involved in the 2 a.m. accident on July 25, but only one person was seriously injured.
A total of 8 alarms were needed after the product seeped into a small river and touched off several building fires downstream.
Crews from nearby Logan International Airport were called to the scene and were instrumental in helping knock down the burning tanker, while mutual aid crews from nearby cities and towns assisted Saugus crews in extinguishing the other building fires.
