Structure Fire Tackled in New York

Columbia County 911 dispatched Chatham firefighters and Chatham Rescue at 2:44 a.m. for a structure fire at 162 Hudson Avenue in the Village of Chatham. The fire was located at the Mac-Haydn Theater cast house. Under automatic mutual aid, Ghent firefighters and Red Rock with their F.A.S.T. were dispatched. Command additionally requested East Chatham, Valatie and Niverville firefighters to the scene. Austerlitz Fire District Firefighters stoodby in the Chatham Station for Chatham and Ghent. Kinderhook stood by in Valatie’s quarters.

Crews from Chatham Ladder 585 and Valatie Ladder 55 poured water into the burning building from their aerial pipes.

The Red Cross was requested to assist the 11 occupants. NYSE&G and Village of Chatham DPW also responded.

The Columbia County Fire and EMS Coordinators Offices and the Chatham Police Department were on the scene. The fire is under investigation by the Columbia County Cause & Origin Team.

Chatham Car 1 stated the home was a total loss. Chatham Firefighters were back in service at 8:29a.m.
