Structure Fire In Clinton, WI

On September 3, 2006 at approximately 8:46 a.m. the Clinton Fire Department and Clinton Police Department of Wisconsin, responded to a report of a structure fire.

On September 3, 2006 at approximately 8:46 a.m. the Clinton Fire Department and Clinton Police Department of Wisconsin, responded to a report of a structure fire at 201 Allen Street (downtown business district), in the Village of Clinton.

Upon arrival officials discovered the business to be engulfed in flames. The Clinton Fire Department was assisted in fighting the fire by the following departments; Turtle Fire Department, Beloit fire Department, South Beloit Fire Department, Darien Fire Department, Sharon Fire Department, Milton Fire Department, Town of Beloit Fire & EMS, the Walworth Fire Department and the Red Cross.

Officials indicate the building, which is estimated at approximately $250,000.00 to be a total loss, with contents estimated at approximately $750,000.00. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.

Due to several "hot spots" firefighters from the Clinton Fire Department are expected to remain on the scene until 7:00 Wednesday September 5, 2006. The building is owned by Meurer Property Investments of Elkhorn, WI and Steve Pekul also of Elkhorn.

Due to the extensive nature of the fire, the cause and origin of the fire is being jointly investigated by the Clinton Fire Department, Clinton Police Department and the State Fire Marshall's Office.
