Rocky Mount, N.C. Hosts Air Rescue Training

The Rocky Mount, N.C. Fire Department hosted the North Carolina Helo Aquatic Rescue Team monthly training for the UH-72 platform on June 17, 2011.The North Carolina National Guard supplied two UH-72 aircraft and flight crews for the training event. Ten HART technicians from the following agencies participated: Charlotte Fire, Raleigh Fire, Cary Fire, South Orange Rescue, Office of State Fire Marshal, Rocky Mount Fire, Greenville Fire, and New Bern Fire. The groups met at the Rocky Mount Fire Training Grounds for the ten-hour training event.

The training consisted of rescuing survivors from windows and roofs of structures and from trees. These are situations that are frequently found during inland flooding and along our coast. NC HART is an assist that is available to all counties in the state through NC Emergency Management.
