Firefighters from four departments battled a house fire in Cottage Grove Monday.

They were called for a report of flames coming from the back of a home in the 8200 block of Hyde Ave. When they arrived, just before 4 p.m., they found heavy fire involving the rear of the home.

An initial attack was made, but crews found heavy fire in the attic and parts of the roof were starting to collapse. Command pulled the companies from the building.

Firefighters performed an exterior attack until the heavy volume of fire was knocked down and returned to interior operations.

Units from Newport, St. Paul Park and Woodbury assisted at the scene. Temperatures were 92 degrees, so crews rotated in and out of the structure.
