Just after midnight on Friday, Rochester firefighters battled a raging fire in a large home in the city’s Upper Falls neighborhood.

At 12:30 a.m. crews were called to the 700 block of North Street for a report of fire showing from a boarded up house. Dispatch alerted Engine 3, Truck 3, Quint 6/Midi 6, Battalion 3 and Rescue 11 and assigned Engine 1 as rapid intervention. They were also advised of a male seen running from the home.

Rescue 11 and Engine 3's crews found heavy fire showing from the rear of the 35x60 two-and-a-half-story house. Engine 3 personnel stretched a handline into the structure and found heavy fire on the second floor.

As crews battled the fire from the interior, conditions got worse and started to run the attic. Command pulled all companies from the building to conduct an exterior attack.

The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes. There were no injuries.
