Fatal MVA with Dual Entrapment in Potts Grove, Pennsylvania

On Tuesday, July 4th, at 1628, the Milton and Potts Grove Fire Departments were dispatched to Rt. 642 in Potts Grove for a vehicle into a pole.

Units arrived to find a Ford Escort that had been traveling at high rate of speed lost control and slid into a pole striking the drivers side and wrapping around the pole.

There were four occupants in the vehicle. The female operator was heavily entrapped in the front seat and a male juvenile was entrapped in the back seat.

Two other juveniles had been self-extricated. Both occupants were severely entangled in the vehicle. Due to the heat and severity of entrapment additional rescues from White Deer Twp. and Warrior Run were requested to rotate crews operating on scene.

Despite valiant efforts by all rescuers the female was pronounced dead on the scene. One juvenile was transported by ground and two were flown by helicopter.

Chief 1503(Goodbrod) had command and Captain 1561(Mabus) handled LZ operations.
