Georgia Fire Damages Apartments at the Terraces at Towne Lake

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Service and Woodstock Fire and Rescue responded to a commercial structure fire call at approximately 5:56 am at the Terraces of Town Lake, off Towne Lake Parkway near Woodstock.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Service and Woodstock Fire and Rescue responded to a commercial structure fire call at approximately 5:56 am at the Terraces of Town Lake, off Towne Lake Parkway near Woodstock.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found flames and heavy smoke coming from a portion of the 1700 building.

Neighboring firefighters from the City of Canton and Cobb County were also called to assist with the blaze. Residents in the 1700 building and neighboring buildings were quickly evacuated. According to Cherokee County Fire Chief, Raymond Gunnin, "All of the fire departments worked together as a team, which resulted in this fire being extinguished quickly before it spread to other portions of the building. All of the firefighters did an excellent job in fighting this fire."

Only 1/3 of the apartment building was affected resulting in approximately 12-15 apartments receiving either major or moderate damage from the fire.

The American Red Cross was called to help the families who needed immediate assistance.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
