Shortly before 9am, on May 21, 2006, Camden Firefighters were dispatched for a report of a dwelling fire on Marlton Pike and Sewell Street in the East Camden section of the City.

The first arriving Units found heavy fire and smoke showing in No.51-53 Marlton Pike both were two story frame, occupied dwellings. Battalion 2 placed All Hands in Service followed by the request for the 2nd Alarm.

For the first 20 minutes, firefighters using four hand lines made an aggressive interior attack, but every time the fire was knocked down, it seemed to come back again.

Firefighters were then forced to make a defensive exterior attack as the fire started to extend across a three foot alley way to an adjoining two story occupied dwelling.

Eight water lines were now working, and twenty minutes later, the fire was placed under control by Car 3, (Paul Price ).
