Just before 10:30 am, on Monday, May 8th, units from the surrounding area were alerted to Laurel for a MVA with one confirmed trapped.

The initial rescue assignment arrived on scene to find a single car wrapped around a tree with one severely pinned, and one already removed from the vehicle.

Due to an understaffed rescue squad and an extensive extrication in store, an additional engine and rescue squad were alerted to the call.

After the arrival of the second rescue squad, it took about 30 minutes to complete this technical extrication. Both patients were air lifted by U.S. Park Police helicopters to Prince George's Trauma Center.

Units on the initial dispatch: Engine 191 (Bowie), Ambulance 199, Rescue Engine 49(Laurel), Medic 49, EMS 11, Battalion Chief 2, and Chief 19A.

Added units were: Engine 311 (Beltsville), Rescue Squad 14 (Berwyn Heights), Eagle 1, Eagle 2, Chief 14A, and Chief 14B.
