Lynchburg, Virginia Firefighters Extricate Driver From Overturned Tractor Trailer

Following a more than two hour extricatation, the Lynchburg Fire and EMS Department Technical Rescue Team successfully removed a 57-year-old victim from an overturned tractor trailer Wednesday, March 24, 2004.

Following a more than two hour extricatation, the Lynchburg Fire and EMS Department Technical Rescue Team successfully removed a 57-year-old victim from an overturned tractor trailer Wednesday, March 24, 2004. The truck overturned on an entrance ramp to Route 460 East just outside of the Lynchburg city limits.

The Incident Commander was Lynchburg Fire and EMS Captain Lee Day. The Operations Division was commanded by Lynchburg Fire and EMS Captain Paul Ginther who is also a member of the department's Technical Rescue Team.

Assiting in this extrication were the Lyn-Dan Heights Volunteer Fire Department, Campbell County Rescue Squad and Virginia State Police Med-Flight 3. Following the extrication, the patient was flown via Med-Flight 3 to Lynchburg General Hospital. He was later transferred to the University of Virginia Hospital via Med-Flight 3.
