Charlotte, North Carolina Apartment Fire Ruled Arson, Displaces 4 Families

East side Charlotte firefighters were called to the Lake Point Apartments, 7233 Point Lake Drive, near Albemarle Road when the first 911 call into fire communications came just after 4:00 PM, Monday, March 22.

Charlotte, N.C. -- East side Charlotte firefighters were called to the Lake Point Apartments, 7233 Point Lake Drive, near Albemarle Road when the first 911 call into fire communications came just after 4:00 PM, Monday, March 22.

Firefighters from station #23 found heavy fire conditions from the 1st floor to the roof and attic of this 2-story apartment building. The incident went to a 2nd alarm response, bringing to the scene 7 engine companies, 2 ladder companies, Rescue 3, and command and support personnel.

A quick interior fire attack stopped this quickly spreading fire, that had reached the common attic area.

The fire destroyed 1 unit and left five other units with smoke and water damage.

Members of the Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force were called in to determine the cause of the blaze, which resulted in an estimated $200,000 in damages. The cause was ruled to be arson and 2 other brush fires in the same area were being investigated as a possible link to this apartment fire.

The American Red Cross was dispatched to assist with the needs of the numerous people who were displaced. There were no injuries reported.
