Camden, New Jersey Firefighters Battle Dwelling Fires

March 8, 2006 started off with a 2 alarm fire in a pair of twin, 3- story dwellings in East Camden.

March 8, 2006 started off with a 2 alarm fire in a pair of twin, 3- story dwellings in East Camden.

Things quieted down, till March 19th, at 5:30 am, with an All Hands Fire at 6th & Gordon Terrace in South Camden. Three hours later, at 8:35 am, fire units were dispatched to 1114 South 4th in South Camden for a fire in a row of 2- story dwellings. This went for 2 alarms.

The next morning, March 20th, at 4:35 am, another 2- alarmer in a large 3 frame dwelling on 1200 block princes ave South Camden. Then March 21st, units were called to 600 block of North 8th Street in North Camden for a row of dwellings. 3 Alarms were used to bring this under control.

It was East Camdens turn for a All Hands fatal fire at 3:06 am, on the 500 block of North 27th St. On March 27th, one more All Hands came at 12:30 pm for a twin 3 story brick dwellings at 3rd & Washington Streets in South Camden, 3 hours later, one more All Hands fire in a dwelling at 1046 Bergin Avenue East Camden.

Then it was North Camdens turn for an All Hands fire 947 Elm St.

March was coming to an end, but it wasn't long before Members of Engine Company 9 were looking out there window, and saw smoke coming from a large, 2 1/2 story store.
