MONTGOMERY, NY - At around 8:45 am, on Tuesday April 11th the Coldenham Fire Department was alerted for a possible structure fire on Old Maybrook Road.

As units were responding they noticed a large plume of smoke. Incident Command, Deputy Chief Anthony Trapini requested the 2nd alarm tanker task force assignment.

Units arrived on scene and reported a well involved 1 1/2 story frame structure. A male with burns approached firefighters and advised that there was still someone in the house.

Firefighters mounted an aggressive interior attack as a 2nd crew searched for the missing victim, sadly his body was located just inside a rear porch door, the male from front yard was taken by EMS to a landing zone established in a neighbors yard where a Stat Flight helicopter flew the patient to Westchester Medical Center for further evaluation of his burns.

Assisting Coldenham were units from Stewart Air Guard, Maybrook, Montgomery and Walden with Orange Lake at the tanker fill site on Bracken Road, the Town of Montgomery Ambulance Corps and Mobile Life Support services also assisted on scene along with Stat Flight Medevac.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Orange County Fire Investigation Unit.
