Just before noon, on April 18th, a fuel tanker truck, filled with 8600 gallons of gas exploded, sending flames and smoke over a 100 feet into the air.

The Phoenix fire department responded to this 2 alarm, HazMat call with over 75 firefighters and at least a dozen fire trucks. The inferno was finally subdued with a mixture of water and foam.

The Phoenix Fire and Police Departments have launched a criminal investigation involving the fire. The owner of the trucking company told Phoenix Fire that he has no clue why his driver was at the salvage yard.

The driver of the truck has given no statement.
