Firefighters from the East Alabama Fire District in Valley, Alabama battled a late afternoon single family dwelling fire.

The structure was fully involved on arrival of the first engine company. Firefighters were hampered from an initial interior attack due to downed power lines blocking access to the front of the structure.

Another set back in controlling the fire was the lack of available water in the neighborhood.

A second alarm was transmitted by IC Neal Marberry for additional engine companies to begin a water shuttle.

During the course of the fire, high winds moved in, blanketing responders in heavy smoke.

Cause of the fire is still under investigation.
