In the afternoon of February 19th 2004, Stoneham Fire Department received a call for a house fire on Linderwood Road.

A second alarm was struck on arrival, and a corrected address of 166 William Street was given.

Firefighters began an aggressive interior attack, but they had problems with frozen hydrants, and getting water on the fire became very difficult.

They were forced to retreat from the building, and go into defensive mode.

The involved building was a 1.5 story wood frame dwelling, with a 1 story irregular shaped addition in the rear.
