Dwelling Fire in East Brandywine, Pennsylvania

Wednesday March 15th at 10:30 am, East Brandywine (49), Alert of Downingtown (Eng & Rescue 45), as well as one engine from GlenMoore Fire Company (48) were dispatched to the Timerlake sub section of East Brandywine Township, Chester County, Pa. for a reported dwelling fire.

Wednesday March 15th at 10:30 am, East Brandywine (49), Alert of Downingtown (Eng & Rescue 45), as well as one engine from GlenMoore Fire Company (48) were dispatched to the Timerlake sub section of East Brandywine Township, Chester County, Pa. for a reported dwelling fire.

While responding, Engine 49 was advised by the fire board that numerous calls were now being received as well a column of smoke could be seen approaching the incident. Upon arrival the end unit of an 8 unit complex was well involved and was extending to the exposure on side "B".

A second alarm was transmitted. Initially, crew's tried to make an interior attack on the exposure however, due to a collapse of the fire building and high winds the interior crews were evacuated.

Master streams were set up and units operated for several hours.

The fire destroyed 2 units and damaged a 3rd. Also, several small brush and mulch fires were also started due to flying embers. A 4th home and a vehicle was damaged by a mulch fire which extended on to the front porch area of a home 8 units down the street.
