While responding crews reported a large plume of black smoke and when they arrived, they found a 1993 Cougar XR-7 vehicle fully involved in fire with flames impinging on several utility poles connecting the electricity on the local business Fred's on the River.

Firefighters from the Galvez-Lake & St. Amant Departments quickly extinguished the fire in the vehicle and prevented it from spreading to any other exposure.

It was reported to firefighters that the owner was sleeping in the vehicle at the time of the fire and escaped out of the vehicle when it caught on fire. The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office also responded to the fire and assisted the local Ascension Parish Fire Departments.
