Firefighters Battle Motel Fire in Watts Township, Pennsylvania

On the morning of February 3, 2004 at 0909 hours Perry County Communications alerted Companies 9 (New Buffalo), 2 (Duncannon), 5 (Liverpool) and Dauphin County Truck 32 (Progress) for a reported working motel fire.

On the morning of February 3, 2004 at 0909 hours Perry County Communications alerted Companies 9 (New Buffalo), 2 (Duncannon), 5 (Liverpool) and Dauphin County Truck 32 (Progress) for a reported working motel fire. The fire was reported to be at the Red Carpet Inn along routes 11&15 in Watts Township.

Engine and Tanker 9 arrived and initiated an aggressive interior attack on the room involved. Squad 2 arrived and sent their crew to the roof for vertical ventilation, and stretched a 1 3/4 handline to the rear. Squad 5 provided water supply for Engine 9. Tanker 2 provided water supply for Squad 2. Truck 32 crew assisted with extensive overhaul.

Additional units were Engine and Utility 2, Engine 5 (fill site), Tanker 5, Dauphin County Engine and Tanker 29 (Halifax), Dauphin County Air 35 (Linglestown).

Transfers brought Dauphin County Engine 37-1, Tanker 6 to Station 2. Snyder County station 60 (Port Trevorton) transferred to Station 5. Lancaster County Truck 7-4 (Elizabethtown) also transferred to station 32.

The fire was under control at 0950 hours. Units remained on the scene until after 1200 hours.
