On February 25th, at 9:05 am, Derby and Orange Fire Departments were dispatched to New Haven Avenue in front of the Wal-Mart shopping center for a report of a tanker rollover.

Members arrived on scene reporting a tanker truck on its side still actively leaking. Members of the Derby Storm Ambulance & Rescue Corp worked to stop the leaks, while members of the Ansonia, Derby, and Orange Fire Departments contained the spill.

Initial estimates of over 1,000 gallons of #2 fuel oil spilled onto the roadway and into near by Two-Mile Brook. Connecticut DEP and DOT were called to the scene to assist in the response. After the leaks where stopped members of the Storm Ambulance Corp then drilled the remaining compartments in the tanker in order to off-load the remaining fuel.

The driver of the tanker was transported to Yale New Haven Trauma Center by New Haven AMR.
