Structure Fire in Greene County, North Carolina

Greene County, North Carolina 911 received an initial call at approximately 2:15 pm for a possible structure fire.

Walstonburg, Bullhead, and Castoria Fire Departments along with Greene County EMS were initially dispatched. Upon confirmation of fully involved structure, a second alarm was requested to include Greene County Departments Fort Run and Shine.

Wilson County Departments Saratoga and Stantonsburg also were dispatched for water supply due to the rural area and lack of water supply.

BullHead Engine 1 arrived on scene to find heavy fire conditions coming from the front of a 1 story wood frame structure. All occupants had exited the structure.

Initial exterior attack was made with two 1 3/4 " lines.

Walstonburg Engine 1 arrived on scene shortly after and initiated a third attack line.

Command was assumed by Walstonburg Chief Don Holloman.

Fort Run Engine 1 and Shine Engines 1-2 arrived to supply water.

Due to the wood frame construction with numerous additions, fire attack was difficult. After an initial exterior attack was made, an interior attack was initiated.

Due to lack of water supply with the nearest hydrant located approximately 2 miles from the scene. Wilson County Departments Saratoga and Stantonsburg were notified. Stantonsburg Fire Department also provide a scene rehab unit.

No injuries were reported and the fire was brought under control approx 1 hour after initial dispatch.
