Mechanicstown New York Firefighters Battle Multiple Alarm Condo Fire

At approximately 3:15 on Friday, January 30, 2004 the Mechanicstown Fire Department was alerted for a fire in a structure on Red Barn Lane in the Rolling Meadows Condo's in the Town of Wallkill.

At approximately 3:15 on Friday, January 30, 2004 the Mechanicstown Fire Department was alerted for a fire in a structure on Red Barn Lane in the Rolling Meadows Condo's in the Town of Wallkill.

Incident Command, Assistant Chief Tim Sabo arrived to heavy smoke from a two-story condominium and requested a FAST Team from Goshen.

As firefighters made entry they encountered heavy fire conditions on the second floor.

Due to rapidly deteriorating conditions, Assistant Chief Sabo decided to pull all personnel from the building and initiate an exterior attack. Truck 3 in front of the building utilized a deck while crews used several handlines from the ground.

Seven departments assisted Mechanicstown at the scene with a variety of specialized equipment, along with Town of Wallkill VAC and Mobile Life Support Services.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Orange County Fire Investigation Unit. No serious injuries were reported.
