On Friday, January 9, 2004, a three-alarm fire destroyed a Breinigsville, Pennsylvania rental home and displaced 10 family members.

On Friday, January 9, 2004, a three-alarm fire destroyed a Breinigsville, Pennsylvania rental home and displaced 10 family members.

At approximately 02:06 hours, the Good Will Fire Company of Trexlertown and the Fogelsville Fire Company responded to a dwelling fire in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania. Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes of dispatch and struck a second alarm.

The third alarm was sounded within 10 minutes of original dispatch. A total of eight fire companies battled the blaze. With temperatures in the mid teens, firefighters battled the stubborn blaze for several hours.

The smoke alarms did not activate and had it not been for a family member that was returning home for the evening and alerting the family members, this fire could have resulted in numerous fatalities.

One victim received burns when he returned into the home to rescue his son.

The family did not have insurance on their personal possessions. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the family members.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
