Plattekill, New York Firefighters Respond to Fatal Fire

Shortly before 4am, on January 31st, the Plattekill Fire Department was alerted for a structure fire on Route 32 in the Town of Newburgh, Orange County. As crews responded, they were advised that multiple calls were being received.

Incident Command Chief Walt Davidson arrived to a well involved, 2- story frame structure and requested a 2nd alarm bringing units from Cronomer Valley, Modena & Wallkill to the scene with Orange Lake setting up a tanker fill site on Old Mill Street.

Firefighters mounted an aggressive interior attack and search for the homes occupant who was found deceased on the 1st Floor.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Ulster County Arson Investigation Unit & Town of Newbugh Police & Fire Inspector's Office.

Also assisting Plattekill were ambulances from the Town of Marlboro and Wallkill Ambulance Corps.
