On January 26, 2006, a car traveling along the 15500 block of Shopton Road West came to an abrupt stop when it lost control at a high rate of speed and hit a tree head on. The force of the impact was so strong that the tree ended up in the front seat of the car.

One person was killed and on scene. The other passenger in the car was removed by Steele Creek volunteer Fire Department and transported by MEDIC for a Chopper Transport to the Trauma Hospital but died enroute. Speed is believed to be a factor.

There happened to be a car traveling in the other direction when the car crashed passed them. They happened to notice the tail lights of the car veer off the road.
