Units called to 972 Lincoln Way East (Box 1-05) for a house fire with heavy fire showing upon arrival.

Crews made initial entry into structure, but were forced out when the attack line burst. Crews exited with 2 firefighters receiving minor burns and transported to Chambersburg Hospital and released. Upon crews exiting, Command-1 (Asst Chief 1-1 Robert "Gigs" Murray) ordered Engine 1-2 (CFD; Headquarters Station) to Master Stream the fire, which darkened down the fire and allowed crews to re-enter with a new line and further extinguish fire.

Fire heavily consumed the first floor, which was used as an adult mentally challenged center and an apartment on the 2nd floor.

The fire was initially under investigation by the CFD Fire Investigation Team before extensive overhaul took place. During this time, 2 gentleman approached Command and informed they knew who set the fire and the subject was still on scene.

The Chambersburg Police Department was called to scene and took subject into custody for questioning. The Chambersburg Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit and Pennsylvania State Fire Marshall are still investigating the incident.

Several departments were involved in this incident and Lincoln Way East (Route 30) was shut down for several hours because of the incident.

The bulk of the fire was actually to the rear of the building with the crew of E1-1 (CFD McKinley Street Station) initiating fire attack to the rear.
