House Fire in Laytonsville, Maryland

On November 12, 2005, around 5:50 pm, Box 17-16 was sounded for 6512 Olney-Laytonsville Road for a house on fire.

On November 12, 2005, around 5:50 pm, Box 17-16 was sounded for 6512 Olney-Laytonsville Road for a house on fire.

Units responding from Laytonsville District Volunteer Fire Department were: RS17, EW17, W17, E172, A179, C17X4, C17.

Rescue Squad 17 was first to arrive on scene to find a single family home on fire. Chief 17X4, Buddy Sutton, assumed command and advised Montgomery to start the safety dispatch and task force on Box 17-16.

Engine Tanker 17's crew, led by Captain Kapp, started to extinguish the fire using the blitz fire, while Rescue Squad 17's crew, led by Captain Warfield, began to search the interior of the house.

Other units that arrived on Box 17-16 were: E81, E251, E281, E401, E41, E132, E531, HCE41, E211, CS1, AT8, T25, T3, W4, W31, M89, BC5, BC4, D8, CT4, C8X1, C4X1, C4X3, C200, C4X4, C3X3, FM55, FM60.

Due to not having a direct water supply near the home, C17X4 advised to start a water task force.

The fire was extinguished within an hour or so.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

All units cleared at 10:20 pm.
